Hayward Lake is a gorgeous family-oriented beach located in Mission. This lake is a fantastic place to take the kids (and dogs!) during the hot summer months. There is a large grassy area with picnic tables as well as a roped off swimming area for the children. There is also a nice, clean washroom facility and ample parking, with overflow parking available during summer. In addition to the swimming area there is a beautiful gazebo, an off-leash dog beach, a boat launch for non-motorized boats, and two hiking trails.

Things to Do:

Just north of the recreation area there is a lovely little gazebo that is available for public use. While it once was available to reserve for events such as weddings, it now operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you walk along the Railway Trail for a few minutes heading south, you will come upon an off-leash dog beach. While this park is smaller than the recreation area, there are still great amenities such as picnic tables, outhouses, and a water tap to wash your sandy feet.
On the north end of the family recreation area there is a small boat launch for non-motorized boats only (motorized boats are not permitted at Hayward Lake.)
There are two easy trails at Hayward Lake: the Railroad Trail, which is a 12km trail along the west side of the lake, and the Reservoir Trail, which is a 17km loop.
